  Boca de Salto

  Boca de Salto packs about fifteen rappels into two sections, including a 220 foot final drop, through dark rock formations laced with greenery. The approach is an easy roadside walk, but the exit demands real bushwhacking back up out of the gorge.

  This is a gorgeous and deep canyon that is accessed through a shallow cave at the top of La Gloria Tolantango. It is an out and back trip that will require setting some pasamanos and ascending back up a couple rappels.

  The granddaddy canyon of Hidalgo: roughly 26 rappels and miles of swift water through the Otomi Tepehua range, broken into named sections so smaller teams can do parts.

  21 rappel descent in the Agua Blanca canyons, with three consecutive natural slides up top and a 50 m signature rappel midway.

  Paraiso Escondido

  Paraiso Escondido cuts through volcanic breccia with mossy green walls and four to six bolted rappels depending on the season, the biggest a 72 foot drop through a waterfall. The water runs cold year round, and the source calls for a wetsuit with a hood and booties in winter.

  San Martin (Hidalgo)

  San Martin is a short, steep canyon with road access at both the top and bottom, so the hike in is minimal for five rappels, the longest 35 meters. Most of the drops run right in the flow.
