  Arco del Tiempo

  Arco Del Tiempo is a spectacular chasm carved through the hillside by the Rio de la Venta. The largest natural arch in the world, Arco del Tiempo is a swim surrounded by breathtakingly high walls and verdant vegetation.

  Chorreadero

  Chorreadero is a 3.5km through trip which drops 330 vertical meters. Many of the drops are jumpable.

  Cueva del Rio La Venta

  A three day, two night through trip links the Sumidero2 entrance to the Rio La Venta resurgence, crossing rapids, possible sumps and archaeological river galleries. Expert cavers only: access is an informal arrangement with landowner Manuel or Grupo Jaguar, not a government permit, and a small donation toward cave upkeep is customary.

  Cueva Ejidal

  Around the small village of Adolfo Lopez Mateos there are several interesting caves, the largest and most interesting is the one called Cueva Ejidal, sometimes also referred as Cueva Osman. Although technically different caves, these two river caves are connected in one cave system.

  El Chorreadero

  An underground river through one of Chiapas's largest cave systems: about 26 rappels, jumps, slides, and tunnel swims through chambers 30 to 100 ft high.

  Rio La Venta Expedition

  A three to six day packraft or inner tube descent of the La Venta River gorge, sometimes called the Sacred Canyon, linking rapids, caves and the 400 foot walls of Arco del Tiempo. Entry at El Aguacero has required a permit and wristband from the Reserva de la Biosfera Selva El Ocote since 2020, a genuine government requirement rather than a local toll.

  Sima de las Cotorras

  One of the most accesible pits of Chiapas, several adventure companies take cavers and tourists to the area. At the bottom is a small forest, a naturally protected summer nesting area for the sinkhole’s namesake residents: thousands of cotorras, or green parrots.

  Three Tzemoleras (Chiflon)

  This is a set of majestic waterfalls with a hiking trail to access the top and most spectacular one. This could potentially provide a kick-ass canyoneering route, but as far as we know it may have even been attempted before.

  Yaxchilan Ruins

  This town sit on the side of the Usumacinta river and serves as a base to visit the area or to cross the border into Guatemala on the oposite side of the river. Here you can take a fast boat to visit Yaxchilan ruins (one hour away).
