  Sixteen rappels through granite in the Veneon valley, longest at 30 meters, over roughly five hours. RopeWiki logs only the numbers here: an optional 3 kilometer shuttle and a window from September to November.

  Ecouges (Full)

  The full integral, linking what RopeWiki lists separately as Ecouges I and II: twenty rappels over 1.7 kilometers and 460 meters of drop, the longest rappel roughly 70 meters. The shuttle is required, not optional, at 3.5 kilometers, and the window runs June through September.

  Etages

  A granite gorge below the village of Les Etages, reached by a footbridge and often combined with nearby Lanchatra or the Diable in the same Ecrins valley. Glacier melt keeps the water fast and cold, and escape options once you're in are few.

  Gorgette - Craponoz

  Thirteen miles from Grenoble, this drops 580 meters over 1.5 kilometers and is anchored by a 120 meter rappel. The shuttle alone runs 8.5 kilometers.

  Infernet (Isere)

  Six rappels packed into just 200 meters, a short two hour round trip seven miles from Grenoble. Easy to add onto a bigger day in the valley.

  Lanchatra

  Cold, technical, and serious: a run of waterfalls in black gneiss below the Ecrins, first descended 26 October 1991. The next to last drop lands in a churning pool that RopeWiki's trip notes say must be crossed hand over hand on the rope, timed so the current doesn't sweep you into the following fall.

  A limestone drop of 420 meters over a kilometer, capped by an 80 meter rappel. The shuttle runs 9.4 kilometers, the longest in this Isere group, so plan the full five to six hours car to car.
