Tamasopo, San Luis Potosi
El Puente de Dios is a fantastic swimming hole 2 miles northwest of the town of Tamasopo. It consists of waterfalls into a narrow gorge and cavern beneath an arch through which the Gallinas river runs rapidly.
Two nearby stops round out a visit: Cascada de Tamasopo, three waterfalls tumbling about 66 feet over travertine ledges, and the quieter El Trampolin falls a short walk further into the forest. Lifeguards have run the swimming hole more strictly since around 2022, enforcing life jackets and a hard 5pm exit.
Logistics
| Permit | Entrance was 70 pesos per person as of 2022 (20 pesos in 2015). As of a 2022 visit, lifeguards required life jackets to enter the water and enforced a 5pm exit time, a recent commercialization of what was historically an informal swimming hole. |
