This is one of the 'classic' pits in the region. Like Golondrinas, it hosts a large population of Huahuas (Green Parrots).
The cave is 466m deep and ends in a sump. It is best to rappel from the low side of the pit, where there are less bees. The cave is rappeled in two stages, although very few people drops the second stage. R1: 139m from large rock on the left of the viewpoint. | Permit | There is a rumor that access may eventually be restricted to protect the parrot population, but as of the source's 2015 visit this was not the case. Entrance was 35 pesos per person plus 150 pesos more to rappel the drop, with a porter available for 200 to 300 pesos to carry rope. Entrance is through a kiosk (Tienda Diconsa). |
