Bluejohn Canyon (Squeeze Fork)
verified
ACA 3A
Unknown flood risk
Hanksville, UT
The technical entry into the Bluejohn system, and the arithmetic tells the story: 9.7 miles and seven to nine hours to link three short rappels. Most of the day is approach, constriction, and walk out. Graded 3A PG.
Three rappels across a nine hour day means the rope work is the small part; the squeezes and the mileage are what tire people. BLM ground, administered from the Henry Mountains Field Station in Hanksville, so no permit and no fee for a private party. Spring and fall are the listed seasons. One caution on the beta: RopeWiki's longest rappel figure reads 25 with an ambiguous unit, and 25 feet and 25 metres are very different rope decisions, so do not commit to a short rope on the strength of it.
