Vlahi River Canyon
Bulgaria's best known canyoning descent, six waterfalls on the Vlahi river in the Pirin foothills above Kresna, capped by a 32 meter rappel straight under the falling water.
Bulgarian operator listings vary in what they emphasise: Rafting.bg describes waterfalls, water slides and pool jumps over 3 to 4 hours from June to October without naming ropes, while SkyVision and Teambuilding-bg both document the rappel explicitly, including the vertical descent of the 32 meter Vlahinski waterfall on alpine equipment. Taken together the route is a genuine rope descent, not a gorge scramble. Minimum age is quoted at 10. No coordinate could be verified: OpenStreetMap has no waterfall or gorge feature within 12 kilometers of Vlahi, and Влахинска река returns nothing in Nominatim. Vlahi hamlet at 41.7400776, 23.2293761 is the access anchor. No ACA style grade has been published.

The set piece is the Vlahinski waterfall at 32 meters, descended vertically on alpine gear directly under the falling stream to the shallow pool it breaks into. Operators supply helmet, harness, wetsuit, buoyancy vest and neoprene boots. Parties move one at a time and each participant takes 30 to 40 minutes through the crux. |
