Urumbilum Canyon

verified Ungraded Unknown flood risk

Nine rappels down a basalt gorge in the Dorrigo hinterland, headlined by the tight Schlitz slot pitch at R2 where the whole creek funnels through a squeeze.

Reached two ways: a long two car shuffle down washboard Pine Road, which needs high clearance for its water bars, to a ford at the top, or a shorter 4WD shuffle along an old powerline track that trims the road walk. Big logs choke parts of the route, most notably below R7, and the exit creek walk is snake country. The usual flow reference is the Orara River gauge at Orange Grove, but its catchment is roughly 25 times the size of Urumbilum's own, so treat it as a rough proxy only.
