There's no real escape until past the halfway point, where a few homemade anchor hooks bolted to the tourist viewing platforms could serve for an emergency ascent, nothing more. Ropewiki calls for a full wetsuit, thick gloves, and a genuinely waterproof case for your headlamp as baseline kit. First descended in 2000 by Andreas Brunner and party. Sources disagree on the biggest rappel: the infobox lists 55m, an older trip note says 46m; rig long and check current beta before committing.
