Trevelez

verified Ungraded Unknown flood risk Orgiva, Granada

Trevelez is among the hardest technical descents in the Alpujarra, engorged for much of its length as it drops from above Orgiva, often linked with the neighboring Poqueira.

Visibility in the water can drop to near zero at ten centimeters, so shins and knees take a steady pounding from unseen rock; shin guards are a real recommendation from people who have run it. Past the entry rappels there is no escape until the Barranco de la Sangre exit, so commit before that point. First descended in 1995 by Gerardo Garrido, Juan and Chema.
