Trachyotomy Canyon
A short Trachyte slot with one 35 foot rappel that now requires a free Garfield County permit, after enough parties needed rescuing out of it.
The permit costs nothing and is not optional. Garfield County Sheriff requires everyone entering to carry one, issued at brycecanyoncountry.com/permits, and going in without it can be charged as a Class B misdemeanor. The reason given is search and rescue volume, which says something about how the canyon treats people who wander in casually. RopeWiki carries an R rating on it, so expect narrow stemming and awkward movement rather than long drops. More than half the slot above the 35 foot dryfall is walkable without a rope, and the chamber at the bottom of the technical section can be reached by walking up from below on an easy bypass, so a non technical party can still see most of it. High clearance for the track in. The canyon also answers to Witch's Cauldron, Trachyte Slot, and North Trachyte Point Canyon, so compare coordinates rather than titles when reading beta.
