Target Ruins
Named for a target painted on the wall beside the dwelling, which sits on a ledge with no way up from the ground. Two shallow holes in the slickrock below probably steadied the bottom of a ladder.
This is a side trip off the Upper Butler Wash ruins walk rather than a destination of its own. Coming back down canyon from the last ruin, watch for a trail leaving on the right about five minutes along; it climbs the bank steeply then levels into a small side canyon with the ruin on the north side. The trailhead is the pullout at the Butler Wash bridge on Highway 95, just before milepost 111, with paved access, which makes the whole outing a good bad weather option. The rickety ladder that used to stand at the upper Butler Wash ruins has been gone since 2018. Comb Ridge day use pass required, buy it at the trailhead or Kane Gulch.
