The published shuttle is avoidable, and that is the single most useful thing to know here. The posted track routes you out with a sixty minute shuttle and a long exit hike, but on the way up 40 Mile, just past the waterfall cavern where the canyon goes dry, you can exit directly up North Fork with a couple of up-climbs or walk its rim back to the vehicle, saving two to three hours. Two rappels are mandatory. The one at the end of the slot is best run as a single two stage of roughly 140 feet off a sandtrap; splitting it leaves the second stage hanging off a sandtrap and creates a pull problem. The second is about 60 feet off a boulder into 40 Mile. The infobox longest rappel of 120 feet and the descent text's 140 do not agree, so rig for the longer number. The exit passes an archaeological site with structures and artifacts: look, photograph, take and touch nothing. Kelsey, Barnhart, and Jasper made a partial descent to the final rappels around 2005 (Technical Slot Canyon Guide to the Colorado Plateau, pages 239 to 241); Bob Allan's party completed the canyon on October 8, 2019.
