Rakitnica
A 16 mi limestone gorge cut 2,625 ft deep between Bjelasnica and Visocica, run out of Konjic as a guided technical descent with swims, jumps and roped waterfall drops.
Widely billed as the second deepest canyon in Europe after Tara, a claim repeated by tourism sources rather than measured in any source found. Two named inner sections appear in Bosnian hiking literature: Dzehenem (Hell) and Ostro, the latter about 3 km long, where vertical walls close to under two meters apart. The rim villages are Lukomir and Umoljani, both reachable on foot and both worth distinguishing from the canyon floor route. Be careful separating the canyoning product from the rafting product: several Konjic operators sell a Rakitnica canyoning trip that exits onto a Neretva raft, and the Neretva leg is not part of the technical descent. Bosnian and Croatian language club sources treat Rakitnica as a wilderness objective rather than a sport canyon and publish no topo.
