Poqueira
verified
Ungraded
Unknown flood risk
Orgiva, Granada
Poqueira drops off the Sierra Nevada through the Alpujarra as a serious grade IV run, deep and fast enough that checking the flow before committing is not optional.
Three hydroelectric plants upstream, Poqueira, Pampaneira and Duque, began operating in November 2023. The operators' own notice warns that river sections can see a sudden rise in flow when one of the plants shuts down, so check current conditions rather than trusting a calm look at the entry point.
