Opens wide, narrows through a passage locals call the Cat's Step, a ledge barely a meter and a half across that gets greasy in high water, then reopens before it ends. Gneiss instead of the limestone common elsewhere in the Pyrenees, and cold enough that a full wetsuit is not optional.

Feeds off snowmelt from the Bachimala and Culfreda massifs, so flow runs high and cold even in its June to October season. RopeWiki flags the anchors as exposed to strong current and ice and recommends packing pitons and tape, since gneiss is unforgiving on standard bolts. Two 30 meter ropes get you through it. Park at the Tabernes refuge and follow the yellow and white PR-HU 114 markers down to the river. It sits inside Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, and the horseflies mentioned in the source are a genuine nuisance, not a throwaway line.
