Oak Creek (North Fork)

verified Ungraded Unknown flood risk Virgin, UT

Private land from the drop in to the exit, which is why most people who descend this one, also called Battle Creek, do it from the back of a guided trip. Thirteen rappels, longest 80 feet.

Access is the whole problem here. Both the canyon and its exit are private, and RopeWiki is blunt that special permission from the landowners is required; Zion Adventure Company runs guided descents, which is the realistic way in for most parties. The drops are short but not casual: R2 is an 80 foot two stage off two bolts left down canyon with a mid stage pothole that can be a swimmer, R6 goes from bolts above a semi keeper pothole, and seven more short bolted rappels follow lower in Oak Creek. The via ferrata used as an exit is also privately owned and needs its own permission; without it, the alternative is to keep going down Oak Creek into Lower Kolob.
