A three part narrows on Mount Othrys where the water turns cloudy on its own, bolted on both banks the whole way down.

This is the Almyros municipality on the Othrys massif in southwest Magnesia, not the Pelion coast, so do not plan it off a Volos base without checking the drive. Leave the E75 at Agios Theodoroi for Agios Ioannis. From the upper parking continue 150 m along the piste and at the hairpin take a path right along the cliff straight down to the first rappel. The walk out follows red dots river left, then red arrows river right along a ledge under the cliff and through forest, across a field within sight of the village farms. Ropewiki files this as Mavromati; descente-canyon calls it Mavromatis. Limestone.

TechnicalACA 3B II (v3a2 III). Minimum 20 m rope in single; biggest waterfall 18 m. A very fine narrows split into three parts, with small pools but no jumps: a chain of rappels in the first constriction, a shorter second, then a last section with a single obstacle. The water clouds up naturally and quickly. Every waterfall is bolted on both banks.
SeasonSummer. Descente-canyon notes it holds water through the summer.
Flood riskDescente-canyon is blunt: no escape routes. Once you are into the first constriction you finish it. Cancel on rain over the Othrys massif.
Vehicle access8.2 km shuttle, about 15 min. Leave the lower car in Agios Ioannis just before the first house with the black gate, then drive through the village and up the piste 7 km to a col, dropping to the new dam and parking at its foot.
