Machinery Creek

verified ACA 3B Moderate flood risk Cethana, TAS

Six-rappel descent through old mining country near Cethana, run on community-maintained anchors. The fallback when bigger Cradle canyons are blown out.

Open access, no commercial gatekeeping unlike Dove. The mining heritage is part of the character (rusted iron in the creek, concrete culvert exit) and the very minor metal pollution is documented but not a swimming hazard. Anchors maintained by Cradle Mountain Canyons even though it is not commercially run.
