Lost Eden
A paddle in slot on the north side of Lake Powell, marked by a small buoy less than a mile south of Bullfrog or Halls Crossing. Twenty to thirty minutes up the left branch the water pinches out and the canyon continues on foot for about a quarter mile.
Best done from a kayak or SUP. The canyon is wakeless, so a powerboat buys you nothing past the entrance, and rentals are available at Bullfrog Marina if you arrive without a boat. Budget three to four hours if a houseboat drops you at the mouth and a full day if you paddle the whole way from a marina. The left branch is the slot; the right branch runs back into narrow water and amphitheaters where the walls stand hundreds of feet, though how high depends entirely on lake level, which also changes the trip from one year to the next. Flash floods reach this canyon, and being on foot in a slot at the far end of a paddle is a bad place to find that out, so read the forecast for the drainage before you launch.
