Imlay Canyon (Sneak Route)
verified
ACA 4B R
Unknown flood risk
Springdale, UT
The Sneak swaps the Lava Point walk for a 3.5 to 5.5 hour approach from the Grotto up past Scout Lookout, then drops into the same cold, pothole guarded narrows.
RopeWiki puts the working rappel count near 23 for most parties, 14 in the upper section and 9 in the lower, with the number swinging on how much your group will downclimb. Reckon on at least four hours for the technical descent, on top of a half day of approach. The potholes are what earn the R: escaping them regularly takes hooks and the practice to place them. The narrows below hold cold water long enough that hypothermia, not the rappelling, is what turns a slow day serious. Group size is capped at six.
