Gleniffer Canyon

verified Ungraded Unknown flood risk

Gleniffer Canyon v6a5V 3 x 80 metre ropes

No exits along the run: once you commit past the first few rappels you are committed to the whole descent, and any rescue would take many hours. The catchment is only 18 square kilometres but floods hard enough to bury and destroy anchors, so parties carry a drill and bolts as standard kit. Grade the day off the Never Never Creek at Old Crossing gauge roughly 9 km downstream: under 50 ML is a straightforward high level canyon, over 150 ML the advice on the page is simply to stay home. A late 2025 landslide wrecked multiple anchors and traverse lines, repaired over several trips funded through Canyoning Australia's Canyon Fund. First descended in 1994.
