Minakami's signature commercial canyoning course: a 20 m waterfall slide and a string of jumps and rappels through a Yubiso tributary 70 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo.
Run by Canyons (New Zealand owned, operating since 1998) plus competing operators Ziggies and I Love Outdoors. Fox Canyon is the marquee course at the Canyons base at 45 Yubiso, Minakami. Pricing roughly 11,500 yen for the standard tour. This is downward Western-style canyoning (kyanyoningu, loanword), distinct from Japanese sawanobori shower-climbing in the same Yubiso drainage further upstream.

| Permit | No permit is required. This is run almost exclusively as a guided commercial descent, with operators holding concession agreements with the prefecture, and independent descents are uncommon. Gunma Prefectural Police ask every party going into the mountains to submit a climbing plan or a climbing card. Note the regime next door: the Gunma Prefecture Tanigawa-dake Accident Prevention Ordinance designates the Ichinokura-dake south face rock area as a climbing danger zone. From 1 March to 30 November anyone entering it must file a tozan-todoke in duplicate at least 10 days ahead with the Tanigawa-dake Climbing Guidance Center in Yubiso, or submit online through Compass, and the ordinance carries penalties for entering without one. Danger-zone climbing is also banned outright during the spring snowmelt window from late March into late April, and discouraged from 1 December to the end of February. This canyon sits outside that zone, but the boundary is close enough to be worth knowing. |

The headline feature is a 20 m waterfall taken as a guided slide: guests are lowered on rope to a release point and slide the lower half into the plunge pool. Additional 20 m and 8 m rappels, multiple shorter slides, jumps, and swims through deep pools. Wetsuit, helmet, harness, river shoes provided.
