Fakistra

verified ACA 3B I Low flood risk Tsagarada, Magnesia

Fourteen rappels in a tight little Pelion cut that runs from Tsagarada straight down to Fakistra beach.

From Volos follow the coast road south and climb to Neochori, then Tsagarada, 60 km and about an hour from Volos. At the tiled square with the very large tree by the post office, drop right toward Fakistra beach on the dead end road. From the lower lot walk 5 min back up the road and take the first fork left toward Mylopotamos, which cuts the ravine just after. Exit is a small path climbing river left about 5 m before the beach, and it is no problem even with big swell. Descente-canyon's one complaint is the amount of rubbish in the canyon; it recommends the traditional guesthouses and restaurants in the village. Limestone.
