Echo Canyon (Lower)
Fourteen rappels in a Zion side canyon that spent years effectively off the table: a landslide closed the Weeping Rock Trail, and with it the usual access, so the park stopped issuing permits.
RopeWiki records NPS issuing a permit for Lower Echo in June 2026, and confirming one issued earlier that year, so it is being permitted again. Weeping Rock Trail is still closed, which is what makes this a long day. The old beta had you hike up Weeping Rock and rig two ropes from the top to give an ascending exit near rappel 7. Without that, the fallback is reascending every rappel from 7 back to 1. The June 2026 party was given permission to walk partway down Weeping Rock to rig, though they did not end up using it. Confirm which option the park will allow when you collect the permit, because the canyon sees so little traffic that there may not be a standing answer.
