Long, sandy, and barely technical: fourteen miles of walking to reach white and brown polka dotted narrows, a clean spring, and two pictograph panels above the Paria confluence. Three or four rappels in the whole canyon, the longest 75 feet and largely free hanging.

The technical grade is not what makes this hard. It is the mileage, the sand, and the route finding into the head of the canyon, which has no single right line and several wrong ones that end at cliffs, so carry a GPS track. Anchor condition is a live issue here. As of October 2025 the original chockstone anchor at the first rappel was dry rotted and flashed over, with a temporary rap 2 pull 1 off a tree about fifteen feet up canyon left as the safer option, and the handline at the second chockstone downclimb was core shot. Inspect the webbing on the 60 foot bolted rappel too. Bring a toggle for the final 75 footer or the pull will fight you. Access is forest road 508 north from US 89 between mileposts 36 and 37, ten miles of maintained dirt, then right at the Mollies Nipple sign for another 7.6 miles of deep sand that genuinely needs 4x4. Skip the trip after rain: the first ten miles of roadbed are clay and there are reports of deep quicksand in the upper canyon. If you overnight, camp along Deer Creek below the spring where the water runs clear rather than on the silty Paria, and not on the pictograph bench.
