Cheile Orății
Eleven rappels from 2 to 30 meters down a white limestone bed that stays dry most of the year, below the medieval Orăția fortress on the Rucăr to Bran corridor.
Operator descriptions disagree on the pitch range, some quoting 3 to 20 meters and others 2 to 30, and individual verticals are cited at 10, 12 and 4 meters. Treat 11 pitches as the reliable figure and the heights as approximate until someone measures them. The dry bed is the whole appeal here: it makes the rope work clean and the traverses simple, and it is why this reads more like a Colorado Plateau descent than an Alpine one. No coordinate could be verified: OpenStreetMap has no named gorge, waterfall or Orăția stream feature within 4 kilometers, and a Nominatim hit for Valea Orății resolves to an unrelated stream in Prahova County. The Cetatea Orăția archaeological site at 45.4130166, 25.2209964 is the closest confirmed anchor. No ACA style grade has been published.

| Technical | Eleven verticals rappelled top to bottom, quoted between 2 and 30 meters depending on the operator, cut into white limestone by the Orăția stream on the Rucăr to Bran corridor below Piatra Craiului. The defining feature is that the watercourse is dry for most of the year, so this runs as a dry technical descent rather than an aquatic one, which is unusual in the Romanian Carpathians. Operators supply canyoning specific ropes, harnesses and helmets to IcoPro and UIAA standards plus canyon bags. Rated medium. |

A dry limestone canyon with eleven verticals is a flash flood conduit the moment a storm parks over the Piatra Craiului foothills, and there is no standing water to warn you the system is live.
