Plan de Alaya, Coahuila
Canon del Chiflon strings together a series of waterfalls reached by following the town water pipeline up from Plan de Alaya, through a stretch of bamboo forest local canyoneers call Vietnam. The first pitch alone runs just over 30 meters, tight even on a 60 meter rope doubled.
After the first pitch, parties can either follow the water through the narrows or climb canyon right to rappel off a tree; the water route needs an improvised anchor over a rock horn since no bolts were found there, and the coarse rock made the rope difficult to pull. The exit follows bamboo lined banks down to a small dam, then a trail or road back to the highway.
