Bishop Canyon
Four sections of escalating consequence where the third crosses silos in the dark about 80 feet off the deck, and the way out is a 150 foot line you fixed before you started.
From Bishop camp, 45 minutes of quick hiking over knolls on canyon left gets you to the pothole above the end of section 3, where you rig 150 feet with webbing, a backup and rope protection over the edge. Then walk back and drop in. Section 1 is PG to R minus stemming and a fair introduction; section 2 is the ground level entry into the X. RopeWiki is blunt about the decision point: if section 2 was a struggle, take the exit ramp on canyon left at the side drainage and do not enter the XX of section 3. Section 3 opens deceptively casual for 100 to 200 yards, then delivers wide silos, gapers, two 60 foot elevator downclimbs and a dark stretch where a headlamp is required equipment. Section 4 is low consequence twisting stems to two sets of bolts and rappels of 60 and 150 feet into the riparian bottom, and you return the way you came, ascending all three lines.
